Library Launches Automatic Renewals

Clearview Library District News

Library Patrons

Spending time with your favorite read just got easier. Now the Clearview Library District will automatically renew your physical library materials.

“In line with our strategic planning process, we’ve been working to improve and streamline all of our patron processes,” said Bud Hunt, IT & Technical Services Manager.

The changes will begin rolling out this month, with a few items of note:

  • Your physical materials will automatically renew for a maximum of two renewals.
  • Your items will not automatically renew, if:
    • There is a hold placed on the item by another patron.
    • The item was sourced from Interlibrary Loan or one of the library’s e-material platforms, like Hoopla or OverDrive.
    • You have run out of renewals.

Automatic renewals is also one way we look to maximize our limited physical space.

“We’re at limited shelf-space capacity at our current Third Street location,” Hunt shared. “The more materials we have circulating in the hands of our community means more shelf space for other materials. And, we would like our patrons to enjoy what they’ve checked out for as long as possible. Whenever we can, we would prefer items are in the hands of our patrons rather than sitting idle on our shelves.”

Check Your Account Status Anytime

When an item renews, you will receive an email to the account associated with your library card. Or, you’ll get a text notification if you’ve signed up for text alerts with one of our staff members.
