Each month we spotlight one of the friendly staff faces you’ll run into at the Windsor-Severance Library or on the bookmobile

Meet Customer Service Specialist Abby Calvin — you can usually find her at the help desk just inside the front door, ready to answer all of your library questions.

Hometown: I grew up in Connecticut but these days, I call Windsor, Colo., home.

Interests: I really enjoy working on my grandma skills! I love baking, crocheting, reading, and I'm desperately trying to keep my fiddle-leaf fig, Jonah, alive. I love to travel (continuing with the grandma theme, I really want to do a European riverboat cruise one day), and I write historical fiction in my spare time.

Favorite Book: You can't make me choose! I grew up on L.M. Montgomery and try to read at least one of her books every fall. I'm a big fan of historical fiction and historical mysteries (the Victorian to Edwardian era is my favorite), and the last book that kept me up until 3 a.m. was Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik. My guilty pleasure books are psychological thrillers — they're basically candy in book form.

Preferred Superpower: Telekinesis ... AKA the ability to get snacks from the kitchen while I'm sitting in the living room.

Favorite Author: I checked my Goodreads and apparently I'm a fan of Agatha Christie, Kate Morton, Anne Perry, C.S. Lewis, Charles Finch, and J.K. Rowling, among many (many!) others.

Favorite Vacation Spot: Definitely Hawaii, so far. Or the Isle of Skye in Scotland. They're totally different, but I have amazing memories from both places.

What three people (dead or alive) would you invite to a dinner party? This is the worst question! Umm ... Oscar Wilde, Jane Austen, and Cary Grant. All alive, please.

Favorite Quote: "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil." — J.R.R. Tolkien

Job at the Library: Customer Service. I'm the face you see when you walk through the front door.
