With school out for the summer and the Colorado weather cooperating, the library has plenty of programs and resources to make your summer memorable.

  1. Join the Summer Adventure Program

Take your summer to new heights with the space-themed Summer Adventure Program June 3 through August 9. Read and choose adventures to score prizes. This out-of-this-world program is open to all ages — from birth to 99+!

  1. Rec and Tech in the Park

Head on over to Severance’s Lakeview Park to try out our tech toys (like our drones, Dash Robot, Sphero R2-D2, Cozmo, and more), compete in games, make a craft, and have a snack. Join Miss Kat every Thursday at 4 p.m. for Rec and Tech.

  1. Fly a Drone

Our Drone Quadcopter is great for novice pilots. Auto-orientation and one-button controls allow you to take-off, land, and perform 360-degree flips, while the six-axis stabilization system will allow you to glide, race, and soar through the air while maintaining safe, stable flight.

  1. Visit Colorado State Parks

Our Colorado State Parks Explore Kit includes everything for your next trek to one of Colorado’s 42 State Parks: a current state park pass hangtag, set of binoculars, Colorado Wildlife Guide, Colorado Trees and Wildflowers Guide, parks brochure, and more!

  1. Learn to Code

Turn anything into a keyboard with Makey Makey or explore the Internet of Things with Raspberry Pi. Kids ages 5-12 can explore computer programming through our bi-monthly program CoderDojo.

  1. Play an Instrument

Start your musical journey by checking out a guitar or ukulele. Our “My Guitar” Explore Kit includes a ¾-size classical guitar, DVD with 60 lessons, and instructional software with a tuner, metronome, and chord dictionary.

  1. Pickup a New Language

Learn conversation skills in more than 70 languages with Mango! Mango provides interactive lessons, recorded words and phrases, and a language conversion tool. Available via the library website or a downloadable app (Google Play | App Store).

  1. StoryWalk at Eastman Park

Combine your love of reading and the outdoors with StoryWalk at Eastman Park. Read through a children’s book as your stroll along the trail with a progressive installation from Boy Scout Troop 88. Each month, the story changes with a StoryWalk Storytime kickoff.

  1. Start a Business

Work your way through our Small Business Builder, a step-by-step online planning tool for starting a business. Or, meet with Business Librarian Kelly Hall to match your goals with library tools and resources.

  1. Delve into Robotics

Bring a robot to life with our Dash Robot, Ozobot, Sphero R2-D2, Cozmo, Finch Robot, BB-8, Star Wars Force Band, Sphero Mini, and Sphero Bolt. With exciting, interactive STEM games, your family will never know they’re learning at the same time!

Make sure to document all of your summer fun with our Go Pro Camera (with Accessory Kit) and Instax Mini.
